available, then happiness is not possible. Thus it is almost impossible for 40 per cent of the people (who are at the bottom of the economic pyramid) to enjoy a good quality of life. There is a distinction between basic needs on the one hand, and desire and greed on the other. Unfortunately, many people are more interested in fulfilling their wants and desires, either due to their own greedy nature or because of peer pressure. That is why, we often see that rich people are not necessarily happy. One should be constantly aware of this reality; otherwise happiness will always remain elusive.
The most important needs for happiness are a balanced diet, health, physical activities and hygiene. Many have become

health-conscious over the decades but the frequency of falling ill has not come down; on the contrary, it has possibly increased. Everyone knows and accepts that there is a mind-body connection and that the mind needs attention more than the body. Physically and mentally challenged persons definitely have a lesser chance of being happy for a longer period of time, but not all of them are constantly unhappy because mentally they have accepted their situation. The impact of the same or similarly adverse situation varies from person to person and that is why, lately, we hear so much about the impact that attitude (either positive or negative) has on the quality of one’s life.
