How deep he has seen into the mysteries of knowledge and love of God we see from his sayings... These utterances of Ramakrishna reveal to us not only his own thoughts, but the faith and hope of millions of human beings.”
For Arnold Toynbee, an eminent English historian and philosopher, Sri Ramakrishna’s message was “unique in being expressed in action. Religion is not just a matter for study, it is something that has to be experienced and to be lived, and this is the field in which Sri Ramakrishna manifested his uniqueness... His religious activity and experience were, in fact, comprehensive to a degree that had perhaps never before been attained by any other religious genius, in India or elsewhere.”
Dr. S. Radhakrishnan says of the great Saint: “He is one of those rare beings in whom the flame of spiritual life burns so brightly that

all who come near are able to share the illumination and see the world new-born as on the first day. He is an illustrious example of the mystical tradition which runs right through the religious history of this country from the days of the Vedic Rishis. This tradition sometimes may have been overcome by a ceremonial piety or by a rationalistic dogma. Yet it always reappears faithful to its original pattern. Sri Ramakrishna Paramhamsa is still the most celebrated mystic in Bengal, respected for his devotion, loved for his kindness, adored for his eccentricity. As Swami Lokeswarananda observes, “The world is divine, so is humanity. Ramakrishna realised this, and this was his message.”
